Before StackJack's in-app checkout, purchases were made through the StackJack website's store (built on WooCommerce). If your account started there, some or all of your subscriptions may still be billed through the website. This page explains how those accounts work and what the migration to in-app billing looks like.
Nothing about your StackJack features differs on legacy billing — plans, tools, and limits behave identically. Only where you pay is different.
How free accounts were created historically
Today there is one way to get a free StackJack account: the portal's signup page — company name, your name, and work email. No credit card.
Before the cutover, free-tier links on the StackJack website routed through the website's checkout instead. Accounts created that way are the "legacy" accounts this page covers: their free connector subscriptions were created by that checkout, and any paid subscriptions from the same era may still be billed through the website. Accounts created in-app get their subscriptions when they connect their first tool — nothing on this page applies to them.
Managing a website-billed subscription
If any of your subscriptions are billed through the website, the Billing page shows a Manage Legacy WooCommerce Billing button. It opens the website's My Account page, where you can:
- View invoices and order history
- Update the payment method used for website subscriptions
- See your website subscriptions' status
Upgrades on a website-billed paid subscription route through the website's checkout rather than the in-app one — the upgrade buttons on the Connectors page take you to the right place automatically.
Cancellation works from the Connectors page like any other plan, but note that website-billed cancellations take effect immediately rather than at period end — see Canceling, downgrades, and payment issues.
Moving from WooCommerce to in-app billing
StackJack is progressively migrating legacy accounts to in-app (Paddle) billing. Migration is initiated by StackJack — you do not need to request it or set anything up. When it is your account's turn, the Billing page walks you through it with a banner. You will see at most one of these:
"Complete your Paddle subscription" (action needed)
StackJack has prepared a replacement subscription and needs you to complete checkout:
- Click Resubscribe via Paddle and complete the checkout in the new tab.
- Until the new subscription activates, your existing website subscription continues to bill you as normal — you are never left uncovered.
- Once the new subscription activates, the website subscription cancels automatically — the handover is designed so the two subscriptions do not bill in parallel. If the automatic cancellation is ever delayed, the Billing page shows a cleanup notice while StackJack finalizes it (see below).
If the banner says the checkout link is unavailable, contact StackJack support for a fresh link.
"Paddle subscription active — finishing WooCommerce cleanup" (no action needed)
Your new subscription is live and you will be billed in-app from now on. StackJack is finalizing the cancellation of the old website subscription — this is usually automatic within a few minutes. Your historical invoices remain available on the website's My Account page.
Informational notice
If your account has both website subscriptions and an in-app billing profile, an informational note reminds you that the website subscriptions will cancel automatically once their replacements activate, and that you can still manage their invoices and payment methods on the website until then.
After migration
Once migrated, the Manage Paddle Billing button replaces the legacy button as your door to invoices and payment methods, and all future upgrades happen through the in-app checkout. Historical website invoices remain viewable on the website's My Account page.
